Celebrate summer with these family-friendly outdoor activities designed to entertain the whole family.

Hutchinson Zoo

One of the most tried-and-true things to do with your family is heading to the zoo, and the Hutchinson Zoo has plenty of fun activities and animals to see. You and your crew can hitch a ride on the train, check out the Prairie Dog Complex, marvel at the Lagoon Overlook, and visit with feathered creatures in the Wildlife Aviary.

Yoder Amish Community

An established community for over 125 years and with 100 Amish families, Yoder offers tourists the sight of horse and buggies and historical homes, as well as handmade goods and locally-grown, fresh food.

Dillon Nature Center

Get outside and in the midst of beautiful landscapes at the Dillon Nature Center. It features three miles of trails, a fishing pond, and a children’s play area, in addition to over 300 species of plants and 200 species of birds.

Strataca

Want to get out of the house but stay out of the sweltering, hot weather? Strataca gives you and your family the unique experience of heading 650 feet underground to a salt mine beneath Kansas. A guided tour leads visitors through chambers and lets you collect your own piece of salt from the mine. Plus, the Underground Vaults & Storage chamber is used to securely keep many objects including movie props and costumes!

There are many more family-friendly outdoor activities in Hutchinson, but these should get you started on a great summer. To ensure your car is up to the driving challenges of summer, schedule a maintenance check with our trained technicians at Midwest Superstore.
